Girl Scouts Ministry

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church’s Girl Scouts Ministry was established during the pastoral leadership of Pastor Timothy D. Careathers. The ministry officially formed July 23, 2026, in partnership with Girl Scouts North Carolina Coastal Pines.

The troop is led by Sister Carolyn Lattimore and Sister Debra Kinney, who launched Girl Scout Troop #1338 for the 2026–2027 program year. The troop began its inaugural season with seven Girl Scouts representing three levels of development: 2- Daisies, 3-Brownies, and 2- Juniors. This multi‑level structure allows younger girls to learn from older peers while each group pursues age‑appropriate badges, leadership experiences, and service projects.

The Troop’s activities and curriculum are anchored in the four core pillars of Girl Scouting: STEM Exploration, Outdoor Adventures, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship.

As a ministry of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Troop #1338 incorporates faith‑centered values such as: Service to others, Respect for self and community, Leadership rooted in integrity and Celebration of God‑given gifts and talents. Girls participate in church events, community outreach, and special ministry programs that reinforce these values.

Girl Scout Troop #1338 exists to nurture confident, compassionate, community minded young girls through structured leadership development, faith-centered values and hands on learning. The troop provides a safe, encouraging environment where girls grow as leaders, friends and world-changers.
